McLeod Sports Medicine Race Series

During the early 1990’s, McLeod Sports Medicine established the McLeod Sports Medicine Heart Challenge, a Florence area community-based USATF certified 5K and 10K run/walk where participants were able to be involved in a race that would benefit personal health. The Heart Challenge was also established to raise money for the McLeod Athletic Excellence Award. The award was soon renamed the Geoffrey Kier Memorial Athletic Excellence Scholarship to honor the memory of a former McLeod Sports Medicine employee who died of meningitis in 1998. Today, this race continues the tradition of raising money for deserving student-athletes in our community. Geoffrey’s mother, Sally, continues to participate in the race each year and also donates to the scholarship fund yearly to keep her sons’ memory alive.

New for 2017, McLeod is expanding into the Beyond Boundaries McLeod Health Race Series and will include races in Cheraw, SC, Loris, SC and Dillon, SC. 

Florence Race is a 5k & 10K Run/ Walk

Cheraw race is a 5k Run/Walk

Location: in Chesterfield at the corner of Crescent Drive and Magnolia Terrace. 
Proceeds: go to supporting deserving student-athletes in the Chesterfield/Marlboro county area. 
Overall Awards: Given to top Male and Female in the race
Age Group Awards: Given to top Overall Male and Female in each Age Group

Loris race is a 5k Run/Walk in Loris

Location: at the Center for Health & Fitness 
Proceeds: go to the McLeod Foundation, which enables us to provide specialized health care services for those most in need.

CONNECTING FINISHER MEDALS ARE BACK

Finisher medals will be unique to this McLeod race series. When running multiple races, the medals will magnetically attach together. You won't want to miss out on this unique medal.

Cannot attend one race but still want a medal? Virtual Running is an option at all races. Just select virtual runner at registration and select the number of runs you would like to do
